We offer some rather special trips starting in the latter half of February, and continuing into mid April. These are perhaps the most fun of all our charters, as they include crabbing and prawning, as well as salmon fishing. As you can see from the photos, the catching can be spectacular, and there is nothing so delicious as fresh crab and prawns to garnish fresh salmon! The salmon are chinook salmon, known as "winter springs", and will be in the 6 to 12 pound range.....not huge, but perhaps the very best flavoured of all salmon, due to their residing in the cold, cold winter water of Barkley Sound.

During this time of year, we seldom see any other boats at all, so it's like having the ocean all to yourself. These are two day trips, with an overnight in charming and scenic Bamfield, situated as it is right on the edge of Barkley Sound. This makes the crabbing and prawning areas accessible that much quicker...and the longer the traps are in the water, the better the odds of a bigger catch.
